The cast and crew behind the Wales-shot short film, Something Pointless, have come together to discuss the 'quietly devastating' production. The film, starring Game of Thrones' Owen Teale, follows an intergenerational bond between a lonely, bullied boy and an elderly man, whose seemingly pointless daily ritual becomes an unlikely act of defiance against insignificance. With an Academy Award-winning production team behind it, the film has already begun turning heads on the international circuit, with one American critic calling it 'a genuine contender for such accolades'. The film's world premiere took place at the USA Film Festival in Dallas this spring, and the Welsh cast and crew are now preparing for its screening at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival. The production team, led by director and producer Asa Bailey, stripped back the technology and focused on the human story, with Bailey stating, 'I didn't want to dress it up. I wanted to keep it crafted, human, and honest to the script'.
